“To make our community better, we provide our youth with work experience to open up more job opportunities and to create a difference in people's lives. We provide access to affordable, quality bikes to those in need.”
Do you Have A Dream?
One of our nation's most famous and recognizable speeches begins with the words “I have a dream….” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. shared his dream with the world decades ago, and people everywhere continue to strive to make his dream a reality. DreamBikes is working to do just that. Located in a neighborhood in need, DreamBikes is a non-profit used bike shop designed to help a community in need in many different ways.
DreamBikes Has Dreams
DreamBikes has a dream that youth living in neighborhoods in need will have a safe, professional place to work, earn a wage, and learn valuable and marketable job skills for their futures.
DreamBikes has a dream that one day, the children and adults in these neighborhoods will have access to bicycles and helmets that they may not have otherwise been able to afford. Bicycles offer a means of transportation to school or work, an inexpensive way to exercise, and of course are just fun to ride!
Achieving The Dream
Partnered with The Boys & Girls Club(s) of Dane County and The Greater Milwaukee Area, DreamBikes hires youth that are enrolled in the club’s Career Launch Program, a program designed to help teens ages 14-18 prepare themselves for the professional world.
DreamBikes is located in the Allied–Dunn’s Marsh and Brewers Hill Neighborhoods which offers used, safe bicycles to members of the community at affordable prices. DreamBikes also offers a Micro-Finance Program by which individuals can purchase a bike on a payment plan. DreamBikes wants everyone who dreams of owning a bike to be able to purchase one.
DreamBikes exists to help make people’s dreams a reality.
Helping Youth Hold on to Their Dreams
The youth employed at DreamBikes learn valuable skills related to computer systems, bicycle repair, customer service, and sales, all while under professional management in a safe environment. The mission at DreamBikes is not only to provide important and marketable job skills to the youth who work there, but also to emphasize self confidence. The ultimate goal at DreamBikes is to help youth realize that their dreams are within reach, and with a little hard work and motivation, they can accomplish their dreams.
You Can Be Part of the Dream
The bicycles available for sale to at DreamBikes are all used and donated bikes. Anyone can stop in and buy a bike! The employees at DreamBikes learn how to clean, repair, and sell these bikes to members of the community. DreamBikes is always looking for used bikes for their inventory.
DreamBikes also accepts donations of monetary value, time, and, of course, material. Please contact your local DreamBikes or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how you can be a part of this amazing dream.
